Trashion and Tuxedos: BAFTAs 2019

Well the BAFTAs went and did its thing.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge reigned supreme (deservedly so).  Doctor Who missed out unfortunately. And yes, awards are virtually meaningless. As is the idolization of the people who appear in the things that win them BUT...sometimes they look good. So as a consumer of media and a dedicated follower of the thing we call fashion, here are my top lewks from the evening.

Fiona Shaw, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jodie Comer

Trash but make it fashun
After last year's Swindon themed number, Daisy May Cooper knew the ante had been upped and boy howdy (yeah I really just said that) did she deliver the goods! Apparently created by her mum - ingenuity is obvs hereditary - the This Country star showed up and showed out in a bin bag dress. The money she would have spent on a posh gown was donated to her local food bank. Legendary.

Tailor me tuexedoed
Reinventions of the classic black-tie look dominated the red carpet. We had hybrid constructions worn by Billie Piper and Suranne Jones, plus full-on suits in black, pearl and even yellow, courtesy of Jennifer Metcalfe. The tailored look will never die. Fingers firmly crossed this trend sticks around so I can attempt to emulate it when H&M drops a more affordable alternative to these designer beauties.

Florals for Spring...Groundbreaking
Okay so it's the biggest cliche going BUT we'll allow it because one floral fiend aced it. Floor length floatiness (yes it's a word) and mix-matched shoes, I am living for Mandip Gill. Plus this photo with 13th Doctor Jodie Whittaker has just relaunched a thousand Thasmin ships. thanks gals xoxo

Derry done good.
As captivating out of character as they are in, the cast of Derry Girls stunned in individual looks which, when combined, made for an epic squad photo. One you'd actually want to be tagged in. Nicola Coughlan was sleek AF in Barbie pink and Louisa Garland rocked an 80s inspired frock.
